KOLKATA WON BY 140 runs
Well it was a no contest but that's not to say there was no entertainment. Brendan McCallum set the Indian Premier League alight with a blistering innings of 158 not out. He hammered 10 fours and 13 sixes in an innings that broke the record for an individual playing 20 Twenty cricket. There was no other show on - there couldn't be such was the dominane of the New Zealand Wicket keeper. He completely destroyed the Bangalore bowling attack taking 24 runs off Cameron White's only over (he incidentally held the record for the highest individual 20/20 score before last night and McCallum)
McCallum's innings helped Kolkata to make a sizeable 222 off the 20 overs. Bangalore in reply were in trouble very early losing crucial wickets Dravid, Kohli, Kallis and Jaffer in quick succession. When Cameron White went out they were 7 for 43 off 8 overs and the game was well and truly gone. Bangalore were woeful in this first match of the tournament on their home ground.
Let's hope for more innings like McCallum's but much closer results.
