GAME 11 - Chennai Super Kings v Kolkata Knight Riders
April 27th 2008 13:25
KOLKATA 9/147 (Shukla 42 - Oram 3/32 Amanath 2/29)
CHENNAI 1/152 (Patel 21, Hayden 70, Dhoni 43 - Agakar 1/19)
CHENNAI won by 9 Wickets with 18 balls to spare.
The previously unbeaten Kolkata came crashing back down to earth in this game against Chennai. Making 147 was never going to be enough against the talented Chennai batting line up. Chennai's bowling was superb from Oram and his three wickets to Muralitharan who didn't take a wicket but only cost 12 runs in his 4 overs!!!
The Kolkata batting which has been a worry in this tournament despite their winning form was again shaky - of particular worry is the form of Australian captain Ricky Ponting who is one of the few international cricketers who hasn't made some impression in the tournament.
The brothers Hussey found themselves on opposing sides in this match - David joined Ricky Pointing in making a duck while Michael "Mr Cricket" Hussey didn't get a bat.
He didn't get a bat as Chennai lost only one wicket in the chase - Matthew Hayden again showing form with an imperious 70 not out whille Chennai captain moved up the order with an unbeaten 43.
Chennai are starting to hit their straps while Kolkata will be hoping their batsmen can find some form.
