GAME 8 - Chennai Super Kings v Mumbai Indians
April 27th 2008 07:22
CHENNAI 5/208 (Hayden 81, Rania 53, Dhoni 30 - Khote 2/29)
MUMBAI 7/202 (Nayar 45, Uthappa 43 - Jogindar Sharma 2/29 Muralitharan 2/40)
CHENNAI WON BY 6 Runs
This game marks the first big score by big Australian opener Matthew Hayden. He was ably supported by SK Rania with a run a ball 50 and some late order hitting by the tournaments most expensive player MS Dhoni. The Super Kings posted very competitive total of 208. The best of the Mumbai Bowlers was Khote who took 2 wickets.
In reply Mumbai got close but probably lost too many wickets at crucial moments - to be honest they were lucky to get that close and it was only some last minute fireworks from Nayar that allowed them to get to that six run margin. Jogindar Sharma bowled well for 2/29 and the test record holder Muralitharan showed his value with 2 crucial wickets at the end.
Mumbai look to be struggling a little in this competition obviously hampered by that ongoing injury to Tendulkar.
Chennai seem to be going from strength to strength
