April 24th 2008 05:15
HYDERABAD 8/142 (R.Sharma 66 - Mohammed Asif 2/19 Bhatia 2/27 Maharoof 2/36)
DELHI 1/143 (Sehwag 94no Dharwan 25no )
DELHI won by 9 Wicket with 42 balls to spare
Well this was a thumping - pity Delhi didn't bat first as Sehwag might have had a shot at McCallum's record.
The game started with the highly fancied Deccan Chargers from Hyderabad batting first and they were met with some brilliant economical bowling from McGrath and Mohammed Asif - Bhatia and Maharoof followed the front line bowlers and Delhi took regular wickets as the expected fireworks from Hyderabad's big name international batsmen didn't eventuate.
The sole figure with the bat for Hydrabad was brilliant youngster Rohit Sharma who once again showed his undeniable talent and composure to make it to 66 off only 36 balls - the next best score was 14.
He would have sttod out but for the sensational innings of fast run machine Virender Sehwag - He was in the kind of mood that sees him wanting to end matches early and his innings of 94 off only 41 deliveries meant just that. Delhi got the runs in 13 overs with 42 balls to spare.
Delhi are looking good - the favourite Deccan Chargers are struggling
