GAME 29 - Kolkata Knight Riders v Bangalore Royal Challengers
May 11th 2008 16:08
KOLKATA 7/129 (D.Hussey 26, Ganguly 20 - Steyn 3/27)
BANGALORE 4/124 (Boucher 50, White 30 - Ganguly 1/7)
If ever you needed proof that the Bangalore Royal Challengers have a slug like batting line up here it is.
After limiting Kolkata to a measley 129 for 7 thanks to a great all round bowling effort led by Dale Steyn - The Bangalore Royal Challengers couldn't chase down the total - not for losing wickets but for slow, insipid batting. The main culprits of this were Shivnarine Chanderpaul with 7 of 11 balls and Raul "The Wall" Dravid - who made 5 off 11 balls. That kind of scoring rate is just not going to work in this form of the game and leave your teamates needs to do more than usual if you are going to get over the line.
There is no other real story here except for the slow batting of Bangalore. I suggest if they want to go further in this competition they either drop their captain or tell him he needs to go at better than a run a ball of get out.
This isn't test cricket so they really need to take that on board.
