GAME 35 - Kolkata Knight Riders v Delhi Daredevils
May 15th 2008 07:24
KOLKATA 6/133 (Butt 48, D.Hussey 31 - Maharoof 2/25)
DELHI 110 All out (Mishra 31 - Akhtar 4/11 Shukla 3/6)
KOLKATA win by 23 runs.
This game marked the debut of Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar and the one time world's fastest bowler didn't dissappoint with a performance of raw speed and ability.
It didn't start well for Kolkata with the team making only 6 for 144. Apart for 48 for pakistani Butt and 31 from David "little Mr cricket" Hussey nobody really fired. It was a dissapointing total and one the star studded Delhi line up should have gobbled up.
They didn't. Akhtar removed the dangermen Sehwag and Gambhir and when Dinda took Dharwan's wicket there was no one left to score the runs for Delhi. Akhtar was the man of the match winner on his return to the game.
The loss gives Delhi a nasty wake up and Kolkata a leg up on them. They are both battling for those remaining three positions with Chennai and Punjab so losses now - especially to those other teams vying for those positions are really really going to hurt.
