GAME 4 - Kolkata Knight Riders v Deccan Chargers
April 20th 2008 15:54
HYDERABAD 110 all out (Gilchrist 23, Symonds 32 - I Sharma 1/9,Agakar 2/19, Kartik 3/17)
KOLKATA 5/112 (D.Hussey 38no - Vaas 1/9)
KOLKATA won by 5 wickets with 6 balls to spare.
On an extremely difficult batting wicket Kolkata has won their match against the Deccan Chargers to have wins from their first two games.
The star studded Hyderabad batting line up struggled in the conditions with Aussie superstars Gilchrist and Symonds not able to build on their respective starts. Again excellent bowling from Ifant Sharma, Agit Agakar and Murali Kartik taking wickets and going through the entire Hyderabad line up. It's true of test cricket, it's true of one day cricket and it is true of 20 twenty cricket - batsman can't score runs if they are in the pavillion.
I starting the chase - Kolkata lost record smashing hero of the first game Brendan McCallum and lost wickets regularly showing how difficult batting conditions were. But Ganguly steadied the ship realising they really just needed to keep wickets in hand to win this game and a fine innings by Victorian David Hussey brought the team home.
The first real contest in this competition brought plenty of entertainment to the big Eden Gardens crowd despite the low scores - but the fans would be happy especially with the home town team winning.
