GAME 16 Kolkata Knight Riders v Mumbai Indians
May 1st 2008 08:52
KOLKATA 8/137 (Shukla 40 no - Jayasuria 3/14, Pollock 2/27, Bravo 1/25)
MUMBAI 3/138 (Bravo 65, Uthappa 37, Jayasuria 18 - Dinda 1/12, Agakar 1/23)
MUMBAI won by 7 wickets with 8 balls remaining
Mumbai have put the 'Slapgate" controversy behind and finally notched up a win in the IPL. They did this on the back of a stellar bowling performance from batting dynamo Sanath Jayasuria he and Pollock contained the Kolkata line up. The Kolkata batting line up again was dissappointing especially Ganguly and Ponting who has been woefully out of form this tournament.
Mumbai did lose some early wickets and given their own form with the bat must have been a little worried. Thankfully Dwayne Bravo and Robin Uthappa saw them through to victory - great bowling by Dinda and Agakar made it a challenge.
So Mumbai have one win - let's hope they can be this competitive in future. Kolkata need their batsmen to fire or they will slide down the points table.
