Mumbai Summary

The Mumbai Indians
Any team that has Sachin Tendulkar is going to be massive. He is the biggest thing in the sport of cricket and in India he is revered. His presence alone makes this an attractive franchise. But there is more to this team than Sachin Tendulkar. Some of the non Indian indians have also made telling contributions to the game of cricket - namely South African veteran allrounder Shaun Pollock and Sri Lankan opening dynamo Sanath Jayasuria.
The strength of this team will be the batting of Tendulkar and stylish Indian youngster Robin Uthappa surrounded by some capable big hitters in Jayasuria, Loots Bosman and Shaun Pollock. The runs from this team should come freely with a premium on entertainment.
Where they look a little thin on the ground is in the bowling department. They will be led by the exciting Sri Lankan slinger Lasith Malinga but it looks a bit thin from there. Of course there will be India's favourite spinner Harbhajan Singh but I don't think he will be particularly effective in this shortened form. Pollock has been one of the world's great quicks over time but like Australian bowling legend McGrath he is at the end of his bowling career so it will be interesting to see how he goes with the ball in this competition.
This team didn't take a noted international wicket keeper but has taken a chanc on untrie Australian Luke Ronchi - this might prove to be a masterstroke of selection.
Here is a possible best XI from this squad
1. Sanath Jayasuria
2. Loots Bosman
3. Sachin Tendulkar
4. Robin Uthappa
5. Ashwell Prince
6. Ajinkya Rahane
7. Shaun Pollock
8. Luke Ronchi
9. Harbhajan Singh
10. Lasith Malinga
11. Dilhara Fernando
We have one more team to go
AND
We have the opening games of the tournament to cover
Stay tuned as this exciting competition gets underway
