GAME 14 - Mumbai Indians v Deccan Chargers
April 30th 2008 05:45
MUMBAI 7/154 (Bravo 34, Nayar 34 - RP.Singh 2/15 Afridi 2/32)
HYDERABAD 0/155 (Gilchrist 109no Luxman 37no)
HYDERABAD won by 10 wickets with 48 balls to spare
Well the other big sleeping giant of this tournament has finally awaoken. When Adam Gilchrist bats like that as he did so many times in his international career for Australia you really just have to sit back and enjoy the run onslaught. His unbeaten 109 came of just 47 deliveries and is the fastest hundred in the competition to date - given the amount of overs left it is a pity they didn't bat first or he might have broken the highest score set my Brendan McCallum in the first game.
The fact the Hyderabad were only chasing a modest 154 to begin with was due to some impressive bowling from RP Singh and Shahid Afridi. Mumbai never got into a rhythym and the controversies from their previous game must have been affecting the team.
Mumbai are languishing on the bottom of the points table while Hyderabad are finally on the board. Have this talented team left there run too late??? Only time will tell
