GAME 27 - Mumbai Indians v Rajasthan Royals
May 10th 2008 14:45
RAJASTHAN 103 all out (Asnodkar 39, Watson 32 - Nehra 3/13, 2/12)
MUMBAI 3/104 (Uthappa 34no Takawale 27 - Watson 2/26 Warne 1/19)
MUMBAI wins by 7 wickets with 29 balls to spare
The high flying Rajasthan team will be really dissappointed with their efforts in this game. They made the lowest total of the competition to date just limping over the hundred. It all began with South African captain Greame Smith's bizarre dismissal where the ball went through the gate - he assumed he was bowled and then walked out not realizing that he ball had missed the stumps and he was stumped. it went down hill from there as the Mumbai bowlers led by the revitalised Ashish Nehra. Taking regular wickets Mumbai controlled the innings especially once they had removed thee consistant Asnodkar and Shane Watson.
The chase was done easily - the in form Uthappa got able support from the rest of the top order as they cruised to victory. The two Shane's did what they could but they just didn't have enough on the board to defend.
So the hapless Mumbai have now got a few wins on the board - while the top of the table Rajasthan has had their first real big set back. It will be interesting to see how they bounce back from this dissappointment
