Only one English player in the Indian Premier League

The ECB has managed to keep just about all it's players in England for the summer the exception being Dimitri Mascarenhas. Mascarenhas has signed with the Jaipur Rajasthan Royals for US$100,00. The team is captained by Shane Warne who also captains his English County Hampshire.
While English cricket has not been greatly affected by losing its players to the IPL one wonders about the legion of foreign players who play in the English county season. It used to be common place with the likes of Viv Richard, Joel Garner, Martin Crowe, Mark Waugh, Aravinda De Silva, Sachin Tendular, most of the Australian team through the 1990's and Muttiah Muralitharan just a few of the stars to take in English summers past.
Now the question must be asked will the world's elite cricketers still go to England to play in the county competition with the IPL going on at the same time. Granted the IPL season is much shorter but what's on offer to the cricketing stars from around the world is playing much fewer games, playing a much shortened version of the game for thumping large sums of money the English Counties could not possibly hope to match.
It will be interesting to see in coming seasons how the IPL competition affects foreign players in the County competition.
It is another sign of the changing shift in the power based of cricket to the subcontinent.
