May 15th 2008 06:59
BANGALORE 8/143 (Boucher 39, Dravid 29 - Sreesanth 3/29, Chawla 2/33, Pathan 1/23)
PUNJAB 1/144 (Marsh 74no, Hopes 27, Pommersbach 34no)
PUNJAB wins by 9 wickets with 26 balls remaining.
Punjab scored a comfortable win over cellar dwellars Bangalore. There was nothing Royal or Challenging about their mediocre 143 with only Boucher showing any real fight with the bat.
The Punjab bowling attack has been one of the stories of the competition with Sreesanth, Pathan, Chawla and VRV Singh taking constant wickets and making life tough for opposition batsman.
143 was never going to be enough and the three young Australians at the top of the Punjab batting order. Shaun Marsh has been a revelation and looks like helping cntinuing Australian dominance in the game. James Hopes and Marsh's West Australian team mate Luke Pommersbach got the runs with plenty of balls to spare.
The win comes at the right time for the Kings XI as a final berth looks more and more likely. Bangalore are on the bottom of the points table and remain there
