GAME 2 Kings XI Punjab v Chennai Super Kings

April 19th 2008 17:02

CHENNAI 5/240 (Michael Hussey 116, Raina 32, Badrinath 31 - Lee 1/35, Pathan 2/47)

PUNJAB 4/207 (Hopes 71, Sangakkara 54 - Muralitharan 1/33)

Chennai won by 33 runs

Obviously this was going to be a battle royal pardon the pun. Like the opening game in angalore this was dominated by one superb innings - Australian Michael Hussey made 116 but got support from local batsman Raina and Badrinath.

Thankfully unlike the first game Punjab made a contest of the chase falling short in the end but not being skittled like Bangalore against Kolkata last night. A much better spectacle for fans and value for money with nearly 450 runs scored.

One observation from this match is that quality bowling is still quality bowling and the performances of Brett Lee and Muttiah Muralitharan show the great bowlers can contain and make scoring difficult even in this bach and crash form of the game
