GAME 18 - Rajasthan Royals v Kolkata Knight Riders
May 4th 2008 16:09
RAJASTHAN 8/196 (Asnodkar 60, Yusef Pathan 55, Jadeja 33 - Gul 3/31)
KOLKATA 151 All out (Ganguly 51, D.Hussey 42 - Warne 2/22, Tanvir 2/30, Trivedi 2/31)
Yet another win to the suprise packet of this competition. Shane Warne's brillaint Rajasthan team has taken all before it in this competition and along with Chennai are the outstanding team. The team made a terrific 196 for 8. One of the suprise strengths of this team has been the performance of local non international cricketers and in Asnodkar, Yusef Pathan and Jadeja they may be unconvering the best young talent in the land. All those young indian batsman made quality runs against the Kolkata attack.
In reply Kolkata could only muster 151. Ganguly made a 50 but square off with Warne in a controversy where he told the umpires to go to the third umpire for his dismissal - a catch by South African captain Graeme Smith. The reply was inconclusive so Ganguly got to stay but was out the next over. Warne was furious with him and declared him unsporting.
Warne's amazing captaincy of this young side of relative unknowns has left a few cricket fans over the world scratching their heads with the thought - what if he captained Australia instead of Ricky Ponting??? I can guarantee you that the English side would not have won the 2005 Ashes series he is had -maybe he's proving that point now
